After flash flooding, Saturday's rain shouldn't be a washout

Raleigh, N.C. — Scattered showers and storms are possible Saturday after some parts of the Triangle got 5 inches of rain Friday.

As slow-moving storms rolled through central North Carolina, a flash-flood warning was issued for Wake County on Friday night, and numerous roads were underwater.

But Saturday isn’t expected to be a washout, WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood said. Hit-or-miss storms will move through, but the mountains and the coast are more likely to see rain than the Triangle, which has a 30 percent chance for rain.

Sunday has a 40 percent chance for rain, and Monday has a 60 percent chance of rain, which could be soaking, Sheerwood said.

Saturday’s high will be 88 degrees, and temperatures aren’t expected to reach the 90s until Tuesday.
